Tondi Hasibuan represents Indonesia at international contemporary art exhibition in Spain

Bandung-based artist Tondi Hasibuan represented Indonesia to display his works at international contemporary art exhibition “Arte en Red” in Spain.

The painting exhibition was held to commemorate the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture, which was declared by the United Nations. The event took place at the Museum Del Mal, Spain from 17 July to 30 July by the Santa Pola Marine Research Center.

“This exhibition is open to children; it is an international contemporary art exhibition that will combine elements of science and beauty. In the exhibition, children will be given an educational space so that they will also be connected with the issue of nature conservation," said Tondi in a press statement.

Tondi, who carries the new cubism style, said the exhibition highlights small-scale fishing and fish farming.

The exhibition showcased about 25 works of artists from various countries, such as Indonesia, Japan, India, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain. The artists explored the themes of the ocean floor, animal species, as well as sustainability and biodiversity.

The exhibition was opened by Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Alicante Juan Mora, Mayor of Santa Pola María Loreto Serrano and exhibition curators Loredana Trestin and Valerian Venneri.

"Other figures, such as art critics and artists from France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, will also attend the event," Tondi added.
