JD.ID reportedly laid off employees

E-commerce platform JD.ID is reported to have laid off its employees. JD.ID Director of General Management Jenie Simon said the company strives to provide the best services for consumers through a series of improvisation and decision-making efforts.

"Efforts are made to improvise and make decisions so that JD.ID can continue to adapt and run in line with market dynamics and industrial trends in Indonesia," Jenie said in a written statement on Wednesday (25 May).

Improvisation efforts made by JD.ID are review, adjustment and innovation on business and business strategies, including reducing the number of employees.

"JD.ID also makes decisions such as restructuring, in which there is also a reduction in the number of employees," said Jenie.

However, Jenie did not provide detailed information regarding the number of employees the company laid off. However, Jenie said that the rights of employees affected by the layoff would be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

"JD.ID will comply with and uphold labour regulations in accordance with government regulations, and will honour and provide employee rights, as stipulated in these regulations," said Jenie.

Jenie also said that JD.ID will focus on optimising the employment structure.

"For JD.ID, employees are a vital asset and part of a big family, which means JD.ID has an obligation to maintain the welfare of its employees, as well as develop their potential so that they will be able to provide more effective and optimal performance for the company," said Jenie.

Earlier, edutech start-up firm Zenius and digital financial services company LinkAja announced cuts to their workforces.
