“Squid Game” cast makes history at 2022 SAG Award, winning numbers of prizes

One of the most-watched Netflix series “Squid Game” just recorded another history. This time, its cast won several prizes at the 2022 Screen Actor Guild (SAG) Award which was held on 27 February in Santa Monica, California. 

Squid Game” is nominated in four different categories, namely outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series; outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series; outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series; and outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series by a stunt ensemble in a television series categories. 

Squid Game” cast won three out of the four nominations. Lee Jung Jae won outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series, while Jung Ho Yeon won the same category for female actors. Jung Ho Yeon even won against big names, namely Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon 

The cast also won the award for outstanding action performance by stunt ensemble award category, while the other category was won by American dark comedy TV series “Succession”. 

With that being said, “Squid Game” became the first non-English language TV series ever to be nominated and won the SAG award. Along with Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon, fellow cast members Park Hae-soo, Anupathm Tripathi and Kim Joo-ryeong also attended the event. In January, another “Squid Game” cast Oh Yeong Su won the award for best supporting actor at the Golden Globes 2022.
