Komik DC “Dark Knights of Steel” karya seniman Indonesia (31JanS2)

The first issue of the DC comic titled “Dark Knights of Steel'' was released last November and the series is currently ongoing. The fifth issue will be released this March. The comic is illustrated by Indonesian artist Yasmine Putri and written by Australian writer Tom Taylor.

Unlike most DC comics, “Dark Knights of Steel” uses the mediaeval era as its setting and is set in a world where Superman and his birth parents fled Krypton together and crash-landed on Earth. 

Yasmine and Tom have worked together and became famous through the zombie comic “DCeased” that was released in 2019. Yasmine has been working with DC and Marvel for years and was involved as an illustrator in various comic series, such as Star Wars, Amazing Spider-Man, Black Panther and Wonder Woman.


Indonesian illustrator Ardhira Putra contributes in the making of Epik High’s “Super Rare” music video 

As reported by Bandwagon Asia, Indonesian illustrator Ardhira Putra recently made his debut in the Korean wave as he contributed to the making of Epik High’s “Super Rare” music video. “It's a great honour for me to be recognised by Tablo EPIK HIGH and have the opportunity to create an animation for such amazing music,” Ardhira posted on his Instagram caption. 

Ardhira, who is currently residing in Singapore, has worked with and produced animation for  artists from all over the world, such as Barefood (Indonesia), Macross 82-99 (Mexico), Nice guys record (France), DJDidilong (Taiwan) and Englewood's “Crystal Dolphin” (US). Ardhira said that he is inspired by nostalgic pop aesthetic in the 80s and 90s. 


Rare hand-written notebook containing The Beatles’ song lyrics to be displayed at The Beatles Story exhibition 

As reported by Rolling Stone, a rare hand-written notebook containing lyrics to The Beatles  classic “Hey Jude” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is set to be displayed at The Beatles Story exhibition in Liverpool starting 22 February. The notebook belonged to the group's tour manager Mal Evan. 

Other than lyrics, the notebook also contains lyrics written by Paul McCartney in 1967-1968 and George Harrison's recording notes for “All You Need Is Love”, as well as doodles by all four members of The Beatles. 

According to BBC, Stephen Maycock, a specialist in The Beatles memorabilia, the book provides “a fascinating insight into the Beatles' creative process”.

Marvel to team up with “Game of Thrones” author George RR Martin for new comic book

Author of the famous TV series “Game of Thrones” George RR Martin announced that he will team up with Marvel in releasing a new comic book series based on the series Wild Cards which he masterminded and edited. 

The Wild Cards universe is set to return this June and will be executed by a team of creators consisting of Paul Cornell and Mike Hawthorne. It will be released in four issues and is titled  “Wild Cards: The Drawing of the Cards”.

“As my fans may already know, the Wild Cards World holds a special place in my heart, so to have the privilege of announcing that an industry titan like Marvel is going to produce the narrative from the beginning as a comic book brings me no end of joy,” said Martin.
