Perempuan Tanah Jahanam selected to enter 2021 Academy Awards

The Oscar Submission Selection Committee in Indonesia has selected Joko Anwar’s Perempuan Tanah Jahanam (Impetigore) out of 59 films to represent Indonesia for 2021 Academy Awards Best International Feature Film. Impetigore is a collaboration among four production houses, BASE Entertainment, Rapi Films, South Korea-based CJ Entertainment and Los Angeles-based Ivanhoe Pictures.

The horror film starring Tara Basro, Asmara Abigail, Ario Bayu receives 17 nominations at 2020 Festival Film Indonesia and Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) Award at 2020 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). In addition to the recent accolades, the film was screened at 2020 Sundance Film Festival. The film also broke the record with 1,000,000 viewers within 9 days of premiere in October 2019.
