Sustainable brand Imaji Studio partnered with Sulla Home to launch the “MI BO SO: Mind, Body, Soul” exhibition from 11 to 15 March at Savior Pakubuwono in South Jakarta. The event was also held in collaboration with sound designer, graphic design studio, architecture studio, visual designer and Laskar Indonesia Pusaka.

The event was opened with a Javanese dance performance from Laskar Indonesia Pusaka accompanied by visual from Ivan Reyhan and sound design from Prabumi, followed by a sharing session about the importance of sleep.

Every collaborator has to create peaceful and soothing experience necessary for good quality sleep. Sleep, according to Kalm and Ubah Stigma founders, has a huge impact on our well-being.

“Not giving yourself enough sleep means you don’t love yourself. Sleeping is the simplest act of self-care,” said Kalm founder Karina Negara. Ubah Stigma co-founder Asaelia Aleeza voiced similar opinion, saying that sleep affects our mood.

If not the first, the event is one of the few that brings up well-being in the fashion industry. As Karina said during the sharing session, many associate lack of sleep with hard work, but it is actually lack of time management.

“We spend our morning and afternoon thinking about work. Then we spend evening thinking about things we haven’t thought of during work,” Karina explained.

The theme is in line with Imaji’s pyjamas collection and Sulla Home’s bedding accessories. The fabric installation and sound – a combination of Balinese gamelan and Papuan forest - successfully create peaceful and soothing ambience. Prabumi’s research on frequency of sound deserves a round of applause.

If there is one thing to add to the ambience, it is smell. A calming, soothing smell from essential oils, for instance. A backdrop with Imaji Studio and Sulla Home logo would be a nice addition as well.

Overall, we find the topic relevant to the current situation where gadgets have compromised the quantity and quality of sleep.

Imaji Studio and Sulla Home collection is available for purchase through their websites and social media.
